The .NET Framework 4.7 downloads for Windows 7 SP1 were already available from the MS Download Center in early May 2017 but at least Microsoft has finally made them available on both Windows Update and Microsoft Update Catalog.

In reference to KB3186497,  I have been holding off but see that if you add a D3DCompiler_47.dll file,KB4019990, it apparently works.  Is is necessary to go to Net 4.7 at all?  What is the purpose of Net 4.7 in simple terms?  I understood that there were other issues associated with this update from reading PKCano’s comments previously or am I completely misunderstanding?  Should I continue to hold off until it is clear whether after installing the D3Dcompiler_47.dll that Net 4.7 will work w/o hosing my system or that there are other issues still not resolved and I should not install this until all issues have been resolved?  Please advise.  Thanks

There is more to it than the compiler. Read the main blog topic above. I would give it several months for MS to iron out the problems. There is no hurry, it’s not going away.

I don’t know when NET 4.7 really came out because I have had it installed on my Win 7 SP 1 x 64, 2009 HP Desktop for about a month!
