    Hopefully a quick question:

I have a form that tracks the hours worked by a clerical production staff. I am putting in a new page on the form where the clerk must identify corrections done by item type. They used to report how much time they spent correcting the case. Now we want to build a text box where, once they use a pull-down text box to identify what item type they worked on, the additional text box returns the total time allocated for the item type. I thought that I would have to build an (IF, THEN, ELSE) statement to pull the time from the correct record in the table. Before I went jumping into it, I thought I could run it by you all to see if I am going around my elbow…. Is there an easier way to do this? Can I redesign my capacity table or build a query to make this better?

    thanks in advance

Question. Can you have multiple times from the same person for the same ‘item type’? I would recommend having a table that holds records showing the user, the item type and the time entered. Then to show the total time for that item type, you would sum the records in that table. You would do the same thing to break down the time per user, per item type.

      Just a though.

What do you want to display in the text box? Is it an existing field from the Capacity table, or a field you have yet to create, or a value calculated from existing values? This is not immediately clear to me from the datbase you posted…
