    Hi,

    I am running

    Dell Inspiron N5010 i5 Intel core cpm m @450
@2.4 GHz, 4.0GB Ram, Intel HD Graphics
    Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit, SP1
    Chrome

I want to hook up my amplifier speakers to my computer. I thought I should update my audio drivers first, so I went to
Dell to do that. Del says I need more than audio updated. It seems all my drivers need to be updated.

My question: Should I let Dell update all drivers? I know that updating drivers can cause problems with your unit.
I am having no problems with my computer at this time except, it was suggested updating audio before hooking up my amplifier speakers. I want to watch FREE TV and would like to have better speakers.

Experts I need your opinion on this.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

    Glendad:)

My adage is “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!” If something seems not to be working, then drivers are a good possibility, but if your PC is working to your satisfaction, then why take the chance. If you do decide to update all the drivers, consider making a system Image prior to the updates in case something gets “broken” by the new drivers.

Often the drivers from specific manufacturers have been “doctored” by the manufacturer to suit their needs, not yours. If something truly is not working correctly I would be more inclined to go to the device manufacturer for drivers, not the PC manufacturer. YMMV

Thanks for your advice. I ended up fixing it myself in control panel>sounds> without updating ANY drivers.
        Again thanks for your help.
