    Hi all –

I need help with PowerPoint’s “gradient fill” option (to format a shape, including a slide’s background). I’m using PowerPoint 2007 (yeah, I know) on a PC.

Here’s what I’d like my background to look like:
    42184-Good

Here’s what it currently looks like (a “solid fill”):
    42182-Bad

In playing around with the “gradient fill” options…
    42185-Settings

…this is the best I could come up with:
    42183-Better

Anyone know what I’m doing wrong?

    Thanks so much!

      Jon,

How about posting the slide so we can play with it.

      Jon,

Ok, the gradient want’s to go from dark to light, and as far as I can tell there is no way to change that.

Now you can reverse that by changing the Angle to 270 degrees to get light to dark.

      However, you’re still stuck choosing one color and having that automatically shaded and that is going to use a wider shade variation than shown in the example. {color used is Red 181, Green 0, Blue 0}

This is about as good as I can get it.

Of course I have color issues! 😆

      HTH

Sorry Jon, this is over my payscale, I’m no expert on the more esoteric things in PPT.

        Hi Jon5,
Hope this is not too late. But I think this is what you might be looking for.

        42527-WS1

I am currently using Office 2010, so the tools might be a little different. Based on your tool dialogue, I would say, you need to add another stop.
Once created, select a darker red from the palate. Finally, slide the stop position slider to suit where the gradient should start on your slide. ideally, both stops should meet somewhere in the middle.
the tool shown by Retired Geek is similar to mine.
The image below might help in my explanation.

        Hope this helps.
