Need Help from Woody with Office Patches

Woody, I have been following your Group B instructions for months.  I have held off on installing these updates in the past because they didn’t include the word “Security” in the Name.  Should I install these “Important” updates that were checked by Microsoft on Windows 7 – 64 bit?

KB3115475 – Definition Update for Office 2010
KB2999508 – Update for Microsoft Filter Pack 2.0
KB2881030 – Update for Office 2010
KB3114555 – Update for Office 2010
KB3205972 – Update for Microsoft Security Essentials 4.10.209.0

Replies

The Patches are safe to install.
The “Security-only” for Group B applies to Windows patches.
Follow Woody’s DEFCON instructions for updating. The patches you want to avoid for Group B are “Security Monthly Quality ROLLUP” for Windows.
The other patches for Office, MSRT, .NET, IE, Flash, C++, etc are OK to install.

Whether you need all those updates is up to you:

KB2881030 relates to hyperlinked .xls worksheets in Office 2010 in Windows 10

KB3114555 relates to Access 2010’s Advanced Export Text Wizard

KB2999508 relates to OneNote 2010 synchronising with OneNote 2016

For me, I wouldn’t be updating OneNote, as I don’t use it…

It’s now April 24th, I need to support my Office 2010 original 2009 and copy of office. What do I need and what don’t I need? Ts includes excell, access, etc.
