What are the pros and cons of upgrading Windows 2000 Professional to Service Pack 1 or Service Pack 2? I am running version 5.00.2195. It works fine except sometimes my laptop will not wake up after hibernation. Also, the volume control is not calibrated correctly. All they way up is way too loud, so I keep it in the lower third. Will SP1 or 2 fix either of these problems?

Also, does SP2 include SP1 or do I have to install them sequentially?

Are there any known drawbacks to upgrading to SP1 or 2?

This also leads you to the fixes in SP1.

I’m afraid I don’t know offhand whether the problems you report were specifically fixed. However, I would recommend updating to SP2 regardless – I have heard no negative reports.
(Service packs are cumulative – SP2 includes all fixes in SP1)
