I’m reasonably proficient with Word 2003 and many earlier versions, but I just got Word 2007, and I’m completely lost! I’m one of the dying breed of manual readers, and I know I need some good written help. Any suggestions about which of the many Word 2007 books I should get?
    Thanks!

We found “Office 2007 for Seniors” $14.99 US by Michel Price.
It covers ALL of the different products within Office 2007, gets one started in finding ones way around.

Here is one by Faithe Wempen which can be found at a good discount at Amazon: Special Edition Using Microsoft Office Word 2007 by Faithe Wempen (Paperback – Jan 6, 2007). I don’t have that book but I have had a couple of other books by her (dealing with Corel Wordperfect, as I recall), and her books are highly recommended.

You may find the attached file useful. Though it’s not a book, it’s a very handy little quick reference tool. My wife swears by it! She was a 2003 user whose office recently upgraded.

It is usually better to post a link to the original source of material, than to post the files themselves. In this particular case the Microsoft web site includes the text:

The Software is made available for download solely for use by end users according to the License Agreement. Any reproduction or redistribution of the Software not in accordance with the License Agreement is expressly prohibited by law, and may result in severe civil and criminal penalties. Violators will be prosecuted to the maximum extent possible.

You can find this as an online tool here, and it can be downloaded from the Microsoft web site here.

Another interactive tool, which is not a book but may be very helpful, is the Office 2007 Search Commands Add-in. This provides an extra tab in Office 2007 applications which lets you search for commands, for example if you search for TOC in Word it will show you where all the commands related to Tables of Contents have gone.

I really appreciate all of your replies, and I will check out each suggestion! It’s hard to evaluate the many books available when shopping online, so recommendations are particularly valuable. Thank you!

thank-You Mike Stanton for the link to Microsoft Interactive guide (Office 2003 to office 2007)
I passed it on to my wife after I downloaded it. It is very helpful.
