AskWoody LoungerAugust 29, 2002 at 3:08 am #612297PeachTree was way too much overkill for me although if I remember correctly it is a true double entry system. MYOB didn’t have as convenient a tax prep program as QuickBooks. It has been a while since I tried MYOB they may have improved the tax schedule thing. Quicken is super easy to use but is getting to be a resource hog. And you have to buy special checks to write them with Quicken. Don’t know how that works in the other programs. I don’t use invoices or work orders or time sheets so I haven’t bothered with the full business package.

AskWoody LoungerAugust 29, 2002 at 4:25 am #612311Here are some reviews online:

Reviews of QuickBooks also can be found on Epinions.
Intuit and Peachtree offer scaled down versions of their products at a lower cost: Intuit has a feature comparison generator for the QuickBooks product line; Peachtree offers this matrix.
Hope this helps!

AskWoody LoungerAugust 29, 2002 at 7:35 am #612347You might want to consider a “vertical” applications as well.
You should be able to find vertical applications advertised in your industry related magazines. Although from my experience most industry related software is still in a DOS format.
I know one lounger is writing and Access program to handle haulage/tracking issues.
And I think “Yes! I Can Run My Business ” should have a mention, only because it is written in Access! See below
I have no experience with this product, but have been tempted to buy it several times, but I am put off because I am not sure if it will cover all UK related issues. I need to investigate this before I purchase.

Written completely in Microsoft Access by a company with more than 18 years of experience in creating high quality, easy to use software products.
