I have a pair of 1G PIII computers at home, both of which were running windows ME. They are on a peer ro peer network with a network printer. I upgraded one of them recently to Win2k Pro. Everything works fine on the new set up, my sons games, my digital camera and scanner and my video card.

However, my LS120 floppy disc drive has moved itself from A: to D: and shifted the CD up to E:

I have been to disc manager but it won’t let me select A for the drive letter. The drive works fine but it just doesn’t feel right. Has anyone else suffered the same problem, and if so did you manage to fix it?

Have you checked in the BIOS to see if the floppy drive and floppy controller are disabled? I’ve had mine disappear from Windows 2000, but not shift drive letters. Since it’s an IDE drive I would guess BIOS first and Device Manager second.

This article might also give you some pointers.
