I have spent the last three days trying to set up a folder, replace the default post form with a specialized request form, and, although I got it to work fine this morning, when my boss (who has the same Owner permissions that I do) went to look at it, the form and all its user-defined fields went bye-bye. Now, when I go into even open a new request, this folder says I don’t have permission to post it in the folder I created this morning.

Here’s what I did – I opened a new post, went into design, loaded the fields from a .oft I keep in my Office/Outlook template folder, published the form, didn’t save, and then went to the properties on the folder and selected this form to be used when opening a new instance of an item.

Am I missing something? I’m about ready to crybaby

I’m not sure if this will fix your permissions problem, but it should help with the user-defined fields…

When in design of the form, click on the Properties sheet and check the option:

      Send form definition with item

Here’s Microsoft’s explanation… you may want to look into this more…

One very important attribute of your form is whether to send the form definition with the form. The form definition includes all the fields and the code you add to the form. If you do not plan to publish your form to a forms library, then you must select the Send form definition with item check box (Properties page). The form definition includes all the new data you add to the form when you send the form to another user. When you only plan to use your form one time and do not want to publish your form, this type of form is commonly referred to as a one-off form.

I tried that and then when I showed what I thought was my finished project to my manager, my nifty little form was missing, the icons on the folder changed from posts to email, and manager did not have permission to do anything in folder even though I had set them up as an owner. hairout

So what I did is copy an existing folder (where both myself and manager were owners), set up a new form, carefully added the user-defined fields and saved it with the definition. This morning, with as many fingers crossed as I can, we will try it again. crossfingers

        Thanks for your suggestions tkrokosh!

An update – it works now! joy

Now, with great trepidation, I attempt to edit the form. please
