So I pressed what I thought was Ctrl+Z to undo an edit, and an icon of a musical cassette is now beside my mouse pointer. I cannot right or left click on any part of the document. I pressed Ctrl+Z in the hopes of undoing this, but it didn’t work. I closed (without saving) the document and reopened it, but encounter the same thing. What in the world has happened?

I tried to take a screenshot but in using the Win7 snip tool, the pointer arrow (and the cassette icon) dissapear b/c the Win7 snip tool makes use of them.

Edit– Ugh. I just discovered that I am in this mode for all Word 2007 documents, so I must have activated some odd setting that I cannot figure out how to deactivate.

    Thanks.

The cassette icon indicates that Word is recording a macro.
Look in your status bar at the bottom of the screen for a button which is a small square. This is the ‘Stop Recording’ button which you should click.

That doesn’t work.  Nothing happens when I click on the REC icon at the bottom of the screen.  I don’t even know how it started.  Any other ideas to get it turned off?  I can’t type, undo, Esc., or anything else I’ve tried.
