Hi, if I receive a message and want to save the music on my hard drive this is the way I do it, I go into TOOLS,OPTIONS,SEND unclick “Reply to messages using the format in which they were sent” and change MAIL SENDING FORMAT to plain text. Open your message and press forward to, you will then see all the attachments in the message even the music so you save only the music in a directory that you can retrieve later and play the music. Oh, do not forget to go back into your TOOLS,OPTIONS, SEND and put things the way they were. Well, my problem this morning is that the music attach.does not appear. Why is that? Can anyone help?

Are you sure that the music is actually an attachment, and not a link to a source on the web?
You may be able to tell either by checking the size of the email – it will be relatively small if there is no attachment – or by viewing the source code of the message.

I guess you are right Leif its not an attachment. I went into the source and did see the name with the extension .wav but I cannot access it. Is there a way to do this? At least I know the name and maybe I can find it somewhere else.
        Thanks.

Does the source code show the url for the file? (e.g. “www.company.com/sounds/music.wav”)

If not, can you cut and paste the relevant bit?

Leif, no it does not show the url and I do not know what you mean by bit. I saw the name of the wav file and copied that into a search engine and did not find it either. Thanks again for your help

I meant, if you can copy the relevant section of the code into a post, we may be able to tell if it was embedded or linked to a remote site. I haven’t got an example – no-one sends me emails with sound! – so I can’t give you any clues as to what to look for.

(If you want to forward an edited copy to me at the email address in my profile I’ll see what I can see.)

Hi Leif, everything is ok now. Thanks for your help. Besides doing my routine as I explained before I forgot I also had to click on the tab READ and put a check mark on Read all messages in plain text. Of course after getting what I am after like the music I have to go back in there and uncheck Read all messages in plain text and in the tab SEND put back Mail Sending Format in HTML. I hope I have helped you also in this task. Thanks again.
