Multiple Windows feature updates pushed on a PC at the same time?

Hey,

I was wondering whether it could be regular that Windows Update is showing three (apparently different) features updates are being downloaded or whether something as gone wrong.

More specifically, the computer I use at my work place is currently running Windows 10 1803 Pro. I have no idea what kind of deferral settings have been selected (no admin privileges to check), but I suspect 0 deferral. This morning after powering up the computer I realized that Windows Update reported the a download was in progress for each of the following:
– Feature update to Windows 10 (consumer edition), version 1809 x64
– Feature update to Windows 10 (consumer edition), version 1809 x64 2019-03B
– Feature update to Windows 10 (consumer edition), version 1903 x64.

I’m puzzled by this behavior, since I’m sure there is no need to go through 1809 to install 1903. Is it just me thinking this is odd? One feature update can be bad enough, but two or three at the same time are crazy. Also, is there an actual difference between 1809 and 1809 2019-03B?

Why are they using the Consumer Edition?

The first 1809 instance is probably the v2 release from November or later after Microsoft fixed their showstopping error. Gleaning information from the usual places, ‘2019-03B’ appears to be a feature update package of files from March and this type of update was something seen when administered with WSUS or SCCM.

Good luck with getting 1903, hopefully it has passed your workplace’s Quality Assurance testing department.

Honestly, I have no idea why they are using the Consumer Edition. Anyway, thanks for the info regarding that ‘2019-03B’ update. Also, today the computer finally completed the download of all three updates and guess what? The two 1809 updates failed to install with a certain error code, while 1903 is waiting for me to begin installation. I can only guess that there was something wrong with both 1809 and 1903 being offered at the same time, but Windows Update ultimately decided that 1903 is the feature update to install.
