What’s the general opinion on getting all three versions running on the same PC?
    – I’ve currently got 97 SR2 and 2000 SR1 working quite happily on my PC, but just got a copy of 2002, but I don’t want to mess up the other two

I wouldn’t – see this post by Charlotte on the difficulties she encountered.

As an update, I’m still pursuing that issue. I know that Mike Gunderloy (one of the authors of Access 2002 Developer’s Handbook) has at least 2000 and XP running together, so it must be possible. I’m still trying to find out *how*, though. If it’s a dual boot solution, I’m not playing. nope

I knew it was a good idea to check here first
Hopefully you can find out how Mike has managed crossfingers
and let us all know the answer grovel

(and I was really wanting to try Access 2002)

Believe me, you guys will be the first to know after I do. I have to maintain 97 *and* 2000 along with 2002, so I’m not going to let this one slide by. crazy

              That’s exactly what I’d like to have as well, 97 + 2000 + XP
I’ll keep the fingers crossed ever so much crossfingers crossfingers crossfingers

In one instance, we did run into a problem with XP and systems running 2000. XP comes with a later version of the Windows Common Controls OCX (mscomctl.ocx), so a system developed using XP didn’t work correctly on a system running 2000 SP1. So we are pretty careful not to intermix the two – this situation won’t occur very frequently unless you use treeview, image or other controls.

      Hi,

I have 97, A2K and AXP installed on the same machine. They all work find. XP has improved some features found in A2K. Be careful when you install XP, it will ask you to remove the old Office applications found in the machine or not. Just say No.

        (1) have you experienced the problem highlighted in Charlottes warning?
        (2) have you tried the Microsoft Knowledge base “steps to reproduce the behaviour” to see if you have the problem?

          Hi,

I just had the problem this morning when I was creating a demo db to help someone at http://www.helptalk.net/forums/access/. I imported a module from a db created by A97 and once the process finished I could not open the module and the same error message showed up. I just created a new A2K db and imported all objects except the module. I tried to import the module again to my new db. It works OK.
