What’s the general opinion on getting all three versions running on the same PC?
– I’ve currently got 97 SR2 and 2000 SR1 working quite happily on my PC, but just got a copy of 2002, but I don’t want to mess up the other two

Patch reliability is unclear, but widespread attacks make patching prudent. Go ahead and patch, but watch out for potential problems. |

AskWoody LoungerNovember 12, 2001 at 1:11 pm #551485As an update, I’m still pursuing that issue. I know that Mike Gunderloy (one of the authors of Access 2002 Developer’s Handbook) has at least 2000 and XP running together, so it must be possible. I’m still trying to find out *how*, though. If it’s a dual boot solution, I’m not playing.

AskWoody_MVPNovember 13, 2001 at 12:49 pm #551675In one instance, we did run into a problem with XP and systems running 2000. XP comes with a later version of the Windows Common Controls OCX (mscomctl.ocx), so a system developed using XP didn’t work correctly on a system running 2000 SP1. So we are pretty careful not to intermix the two – this situation won’t occur very frequently unless you use treeview, image or other controls.

AskWoody LoungerNovember 13, 2001 at 9:27 am #551658(1) have you experienced the problem highlighted in Charlottes warning?
(2) have you tried the Microsoft Knowledge base “steps to reproduce the behaviour” to see if you have the problem?

AskWoody LoungerNovember 13, 2001 at 1:14 pm #551680Hi,
I just had the problem this morning when I was creating a demo db to help someone at http://www.helptalk.net/forums/access/. I imported a module from a db created by A97 and once the process finished I could not open the module and the same error message showed up. I just created a new A2K db and imported all objects except the module. I tried to import the module again to my new db. It works OK.
