• Multiple Sets of Contacts (2003)

I converted my Outlook 2000 data to Outlook 2003 and ended up two extra Personal Folders, neither of which is accessible but both of which appear in my “All Mail Folders” list, and two extra sets of Contacts, two of which are apparently empty. Now when I go to look up a contact, I get a message saying there are none, then have to click the drop-down choices and choose the last “Contacts” to get to my actual set of contacts. How can I get rid of the extras?
    Thanks.

Activate Folder List in your Outlook Favorites.
Can you right-click the extra personal folders and select Close … from the popup menu?
If this works, do you still have the problem with Contacts?

Thanks, Hans, but when I right-click the extra personal folders and select Close, I get a message that says, “The operation failed. An object could not be found.”

          Quit all instances of Outlook.
          Open the Mail control panel.
          Click Data Files…
Are multiple data files listed here? If so, try removing all except one of them.
After closing the dialogs, restart Outlook to see if the problem has gone.

No multiple data files; just my outlook.pst and my archive.pst.

Ok, one more thing to try: create a new profile in the Mail control panel.

OK. Well, that was a hassle, but it worked.
              Thank you.
