I developed a database on my PC with resoultion at 800×600. I rolled it out to some of my users and they are set at 640×480 and the forms simply don’t fit on the screen. They don’t want to change resolution even though I offered to buy them bifocals. Besides redesigning my forms, is there any easy way around this?
Thanks!

AskWoody LoungerJune 4, 2003 at 12:30 am #682350There are ways of skrinking your forms in code. You can find details here http://www.mvps.org/access/general/gen0002.htm%5B/url%5D

AskWoody LoungerJune 4, 2003 at 4:03 am #682391The rule of thumb is to design your forms for the lowest resolution you intend to support/your users demand. In our case, we have dropped support for 640×480 (VGA) because a great many of the new video cards no longer support it and it is hard to design stuff that looks good at all resolutions. We design to be viewable at 800 x 600, which is also rapidly going the way of the dinosaur.
As John pointed out, it is possible to resize forms in code, but it requires a greate deal of code somewhere (in your application, in an add-in, or in a library) in order to do it. It isn’t only changing the size of the form, it also means changing the postiion and size of every control on the form.
