I’ve recently had to reinstall the above, MSOffice, generally it’s okay but the updates are mounting up in the Auto Updates window, 30ish, they wont download – maybe i don’t need them but can i edit the window to delete them? – have been through the MS help sites to no avail – can anyone help me with this please?

I recommend the first thing you do is install Office 2003 SP3 – see Office 2003 SP3 for more information and download links. After the service pack is installed you should see fewer fixes to install.

NOTE: you should backup your system before beginning a major update such as a service pack.

Then I’d recommend you install all the patches. You may wish to install a few at a time from the oldest to the newest.

What version of Windows are you running?

thanks Joe, but the problem is they won’t download – the notification is there (golden shield) – there are 21 updates but when the updater goes to work nothing eventuates, and when i reopen Windows, there they are still (going on for 3/4 weeks now) – as i mentioned originally, “is there a method of deleting them from the updater?” like, can i edit the thing? or do i just ignore the fact that they’re there – running XP,SP 3 installed
        interestingly these have recently been installed – 17th/18th/23rd of June – KBs,2476490, 2536276, 2535512, 2503665, 2544893, 2539581(twice??), 2553971, 2541025, 2530548, 2447568, 982381 – help!

Have you tried running Windows Update in IE instead of relying on the golden shield?

Have you tried just installing one or two of the patches?

thanks for replying Joe – nothing changes – through IE, updates shown to be downloaded, wait! wait! failed ???? – maybe I’ll just leave them, forget them and continue as if they don’t exist – one at a time? yes, same result – still wondering why there is no way to manually edit them – i know that if installed i can delete them (add/remove) but in this situation there seems to be no answer – yet

You might want to try Reset Windows Update components.
