Hello! I’m getting a message that OE won’t start because MSOE.DLL isn’t available. System is Pentium II 450, Win 98SE, IE 5.5. I checked the Lounge for fixes and found that I should install/reinstall the address book through Add/Delete programs. When I try that, there’s another error message. When the machine looks at my Win 98SE update disk it can’t find BIGFOOT.BMP. I tried the original Win 98 CD, but that’s rejected as not being the current OS.

    Thanks,
    Pete

You can download that dll from http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?msoe

It should reside in C:Program FilesOutlook Express

Sorry I wasn’t clear. I have the DLL and it’s in Program filesOutlook Express. There is apparently some ailment in OE. When I did a search on the problem, I found a lot of similar posts.

Most fixes want me to edit the registry and I’m not very confident about that.

        Thanks,
        Pete

It may well work to download that dll file and replace the one you have as it may be corrupted. Can you try that?

Well, h’mmmm. I downloaded MSOE.DLL as you suggested, but I can’t unzip it. File in use or insufficient authority. Tried their help facility, but it wanted a credit card number and $16.95. I’ll hunt for another download location, maybe not zipped.

Talk about rogues and vagabonds. That’s pure extortion. Here I’ve uploaded the file for you http://darny.150m.com/msoe.zip

OK, I got the file from you, unzipped it and rebooted. The FIND command says it’s in C:Program FilesOutlook Express, where it should be, but it’s not viewable when i look in the folder. The original version was. And OE still complains about it.

BTW, did you know people can’t hotlink to your web page? There’s a nice note saying sorry no hot links. Have to copy the URL into the address line.

That’s a nuisance. sad Do you think upgrading to OE6 might help? Does the IE repair in the control panel work on OE as well?

I didn’t know that about 150m, I only started using it a couple of weeks ago. I notice I never get a hotlink when I put in a URL anyway. I must find out how it’s done.

              Cheers, Darny

Yes, I will do some upgrading, but not right now. I’m tired of OE and Microsoft! I’ll let you know the results.
