I just upgraded from Office 2007 to Office 2010. My customized Quick Access Toolbars (in Word and Excel) have evaporated! Has anyone figured out how to get them back?

See Quick Access Toolbar files for 2007 Office applications do not roam with your profile[/url]. At the beginning of the article the default location for the QATs is listed.

      Thanks for your response.

      I have Excel.qat and Word.qat in my C:UsersRexAppDataLocalMicrosoftOffice directory.
Both have timestamps from before my Office 2007 –> 2010 upgrade.
But neither QAT appears in the application — I see the default (save, undo, redo) instead.

I am confused. I’m not sure this has anything to do with roaming. I installed 2010 on top of 2007.

      Aha! The solution is simple.

To migrate QAT files from Office 2007 to 2010, locate your QAT file (in Windows 7, this something like C:UsersRexAppDataLocalMicrosoftOfficeExcel.qat) and just rename the extension from “qat” to “officeUI“.

      That’s it!
