If the screen goes dead, more than half the times I’ll see, in the Close Program dialog box:

msgsrv32.exe (not responding)

To restore operation, I close msgsrv32.exe. Sooner or later the whole system will hang.

Is msgsrv32.exe an essential element of the Windows “multitasking” environment?

Can you tell me what it might be that causes msgsrv32.exe to not respond?

The only clue I have is that it sometimes seems to follow my giving a command or a click before the previous operation has been completed.

It looks as though there are just too many possible ways for msgsrv32 to appear to hang through no fault of its own that there is no way I can track the cause or causes of this frustrating experience – even though many of the listed causes could not apply in my hardware, there are so many others left!
