    After performing several dozen installations of Microsoft Security Essentials I ran into one case on a friend’s XP SP3 computer where MSE doesn’t automatically start on boot up. She has to manually start it each time she boots the computer. What am I missing here?

      Make sure the startup setting on the service is set to Automatic.
