MSDN Channel 9: “The Defrag Show” and “Defrag Tools” for Windows, Sysinternals, Core and Kernel Exploration
“The Defrag Show”
The MS Engineer I listen to on @ch9 MSDN Channel 9 “The Defrag Show”, Gov, has said on several occasions on several different shows, that the Whole Panther Directory in Windows 10 is very important to him and demands it if you want his help via the Shows Comments on the Channel 9 Website. I have never availed myself of Gov’s Bug and Shim Expertise BUT I have come close on occasion. All of the Shows are on their Site, I would start with the W 10 Shows, if one is interested the latest OS. If it is older Windows OS’s that one needs help with, the options are more spread out. One would have to check with him for specifics through the Shows Comments on the Channel 9 Website.
Windows 10 only Upgrades:
In W 10 Upgrades what I am most interested in this: “C:\$Windows~BT\Sources\Panther\” setupERR log , the setupact.log is a nice little extra. What I like about it most(probably why they did it this way) is that info is not in setupERR.log.
Other Windows Versions:
Other Windows OS’s have various Error and Events Logs that would need to be examined, such as the “CBS.log”, “WindowsUpdate.log” and Events Logs.
If one has a GDrive, Onedrive or Dropbox? Set up a separate Directory, make it accessible to some one with the Link and Read Only and make the Link available. It won’t really matter if somebody else looks at, there are several very smart people here(MVP) from what I have seen. Put the WHOLE Panther Directory for W 10 or the “CBS.log”, “WindowsUpdate.log” and Events Logs for older OS’s in that Directory. Cherry picking does not help any of us, especially YOU!!! and Post the LINK for whom ever is helping you.
“Defrag Tools”
“Defrag Tools” is also FILLED with a 178 Shows(at time of writing) of Awesome goodness about the Tools in Windows. I find it invaluable as well for learning how to solve some of my problems on Windows PCs.
