MS WORD – FONTS (MS OFFICE 2000)

This is most likely easy for most, but I am running MS OFFICE 2000, (2) Seperate copies and different CD’s at both locations. At home on the FONT pull down I have a selection AMERICANA, I like this font and did a search for it, I was going to copy it to disk and take it to work where it is not an option. How can I get the AMERICANA FONT, at work as an option on the font pull down in MS WORD. Actually I just checked since I am at home and the AMERICANA FONT is also selectable in Excel … Any help out there

If you copied the font, just install the font on your work pc.
All fonts installed under Windows are available to all applications that access fonts.

Correction, It is on my home computer, but I could not locate it to copy, I was trying to find out where to look

Americana is not a free font. It is sold by Adobe http://www.adobe.com/type/browser/P/P_068.html so be careful that you do not get your company in trouble for using unlicensed unpaid-for software.

J Till, I am not one to disagree, but How did it get into my selection pull down if it is Adobe, I do not have the Adobe, I was just looking at different fonts on the MS pull down and it was there… ? confused

My best guess is that it’s a printer font on your home printer. That would explain why it would not reside in your Fonts folder. On the font drop down, is there a printer icon, rather than the usual TrueType icon? If so, you probably cannot move this font to the office. (If your office printer is the same as home, it could be a difference in the driver.)

Go to your Start button, then Settings, Control Panel. You should see a Fonts icon there. When you open it, your Americana font should be in there. These are all the fonts that your programs use. You can copy a font from here to a diskette. However, some fonts may be shortcuts to where there are actually installed, if so, right-click on the font, choose Properties to see where it is installed, then copy it.

On the computer where you want to use it, go to Fonts in the Control Panel, then open the File menu, choose Install New Font, follow the directions. (Make sure you specify that it move the font into the fonts folder.)
