I have been trying to update from MS Updater and cannot get any updates.

    I have xp Sp3.

    Cant understand why.

I have shut off all antivirus, spyware/malware and still no up dates.

There are some critical updates that I would like to have.

Is there something wrong with the updateing from MS?

Does this have anything to do with Sp3?

I cant post a photo of the message because I am getting an error message telling me the file is too big.

Has the size of posting anything on this site changed.

I have Windows XP SP3 and I don’t have problems with Microsoft Update.

The size limit for attachments is still 100 KB, and for pictures we prefer a maximum size of 640×480 pixels. Try saving your screenshot as a .jpg or .png file.

(probably redundant, but) Remember to use “Alt-PrtSc” to capture just the current dialog or window, rather than “PrtSc” alone (which captures the screen).

Nothing in the troubleshooting from MS seemed to address the problem of my updating MS updates, so the only thing that is different on this PC was the downloading and installation of SP3.

I decided to go to CP and remove SP3. After removal I tried downloading and installing MS up dates and downloaded all that were available except SP3.

One little problem, came after all the downloads and that is when my PC boots up I used to get a welcome on a blue screen and my PC would boot up on its own to the desk top.

Now after all the updates have been installed when I boot up I get a blue screen with a request for me to click on to a small square with chess pieces in it and it states it is loading my personal info.

I went to CP>user accounts and unchecked the two items there and all that happened was on boot up I get a small window asking for a password.

I just have to click on cancel and the PC completes to boot up to the desk top.

Could one of the security updates be causing this?

If so how would I know which one is causing this new boot up item?

Found an answer to my boot up problem.

The net framework updates caused the pc to have another logon user.

What I did to correct this problem without removing the update, which is important, I went to user accounts in CP and went to where the list of users is and deleted the new user.

Rebooted my PC and every thing is back to normal.

PC boots up without requesting anything.

Now to figure why my PC is at odds with SP3.
