I have what looks like the same bug that hit me the day I installed the Win10 Mobile 1607 update on my phone . . . it munged the microSD card on that phone into a RAW partition, which still reads fine when mounted into a card reader on Win7, but not on other Win10 AU 1607 desktops. Been waiting to see if the delayed “fix” will restore the card to normal use (holding off reformatting it so I can test.)

‘Soon’ to M$ is basically, whenever they feel like it.

all your partition are belong to ms.

I am wondering if I understand the issue well.
This has been happening regularly on Windows 7 with USB keys. After fiddling with install/uninstall in Device Manager when this happens, the USB key may show as good again. Sometimes not. On other machines the same USB key is generally OK.

Hi, is this meaning? that the Kobo eReaders still cannot be accessed? Thay still are seen as a raw partition, this is more than a pitty.
      regards fred

This specific problem is only associated with the Win10 Anniversary Update.

      🙂 🙂 🙂

Thanks for all the good work.

I am wondering where I should be watching for the “go ahead” for the Win10 AU. I have not read every post and just want to know when to allow the updates.

I have the updates hidden with “wushowhide”, have verified that I am still on 1511, and am starting to get the “We found some issues. Select this message [Fix Issues button] to fix and finish updating” with Win update wanting to give me a “Feature update to Windows 10, version 1607”

I kind of assume that the DEFCON system is for versions earlier than Win10.

Thanks for everything you do, and for helping me not be a “chump.” lol

Nope, DEFCON is for Win10, too.

Right now, if you’re on the Fall Update, 1511, stay there. No reason to install the “Feature Update to Windows 10 version 1607.” No reason to tempt fate.

I suspect that AU will be much better in a few weeks. In the interim, there’s nothing really pressing in AU.

How bad is the current AU? I just bought a second-hand laptop with Win 10 Fall Update and planning to reformat it with the Media Creation tool. I heard that the tool with install AU and am a bit worried it’ll brick my laptop.

      Many Thanks!

      It isn’t horrible.

I think all of the points here are still valid:

      http://www.infoworld.com/article/3120737/microsoft-windows/whats-been-fixed-and-whats-still-broken-in-windows-10.html

In the case of a machine that needs wiping… man, that’s a tough call. I’d probably do it. Just… if you plug in a USB drive and Windows tells you there’s nothing on it, DON’T reformat the drive. That’s probably the worst of it.
