MS Office 2019 disappeared from drive

Aloha. I was running Office 2019 repair from Settings in Win10. After about an hour of waiting, still on step 1 of 4. I rebooted and, too my dismay, the entire Office 2019 application was gone. No longer in Apps & Features, not on Explorer. Gone.

I’ve been using this software for over a year, had numerous updates ran and installed, now it’s gone. I tried a Restore but it wouldn’t put it back although it said that it was recoverable.

I purchased this online and received a license number that seemed to be legit as it was approved by MS ’cause it let me activate it. Any suggestions on how to get it back? I’m still looking for the original file so I can attempt a reinstall. Appreciate any help. Mahalo, Jim

Thanks. While waiting for your advice, I tried to re-install an earlier (2016) version of Office. Upon re-starting, my 2019 version came back, with a few apps for Office 2016. I only had to poke in the 2016 license when prompted, but nothing for the 2019. I uninstalled the 2016 entry in Settings and it went away as expected. I’m totally confused as to how/why this “restore” happened, it’s working and I’m not going to touch anything. Thanks for your answer.

… yeah, it does that. Not always but often.

The Office Repair thing… if it doesn’t find any of the usual “minor” problems or something?… apparently removes all of the Office applications. Then it tries to reinstall them too, but that part can often fail due to any number of things. Or it may get queued to happen after a reboot.

Microsoft really needs to document that thing better.
