Not sure if this is a problem or not – grateful any/all comments: Last Friday, having made my dial-up connection, MS offered to update my MSAS to MS Defender Beta (had heard that they had started to roll it out on a ‘trickle’ basis). I accepted the offer and all went fine. When complete I did a full scan and Defender said it had found a) a Private access plugin (dialer) – it was in my local settings/temp and was in there as installer.inf, and KaZaA. It said I should immediately remove the dialer and recommended I remove KaZaA – I did both (strange though that I’ve never found them before, especially as I regularly scan with MSAS, Norton AV, Spybot and Ad-Aware!).
All was fine until I wanted to log into the lounge and found that every time I tried I got the Gateway time out error – Nothing else seemed to be affected, but for the whole weekend I was unable to access the lounge, always getting the Gateway time out error. Today, I’ve suddenly got access again! What I’d like to know, whilst I’m still able to get into the lounge, is – is this just a coincidence, or might it have something to do with Defender and, most importantly, am I likely to end up being locked out of the lounge again??? Has anyone else had anything similar when updating to Defender? I value being able to browse the lounge regularly and would be lost without it. Peace of mind required please.
Thanks,
Keith
