This is weird. Neither of my machines running Windows 10 Pro 1909 have gotten any November updates: no SSU and no cumulative update. I ran Belarc Advisor to look for missing updates and the only thing  it reports is stuff regarding Adobe Flash.

Will somebody please give me the KB numbers for these? I’ll see about installing them manually.

Edit: Got the cumulative update KB number from the Master Patch list. No SSU?

SSUs seem to be every couple of months, but no guarantee – if it’s not needed…

Windows 10/1909 Home just patched for Dec and really that was a sparse offering for me with just the Cumulative update and the Defender definition updates. I’m not using that laptop as much when it’s booted into 10 as I’ve gotten Mint 20 installed for daily web surfing and I can’t help but notice how little my laptop’s fans spin up when in Mint compared to 10 where all sorts of background tasks come to life and eat the CPU cycles generating extra heat that the fans spin up to dissipate.

But the patching went as expected and that’s that for 2020 and now it’s 2021 and 10/1909 Home is on borrowed time with that May 11, 2021 the deadline for me/others. And I’m getting offered 20H2 offered but I’m not taking that until the last possible days of 1909 for the non privileged end users!

Yesterday, I ran Belarc and received what are probably the same two Adobe Flash update required warnings. I thought Flash was removed from Windows 10. I can’t find any reference to it in Control Panel. Can anyone advise what’s going on and if any action is required on my part to fix this?

The stand alone Flash remover for Flash imbeded in IE11 and Edge is KB4577586. You can download it from the MS Catalog and run it.
The Flash removal tool for the add-ons for other browsers can be obtained from Adobe.com
In the Control Panel->Programs & Features, also look for “MacroMedia.”

Thanks for asking the question. I did the same thing as you with Belarc and found the same issues. I’ve installed the update PK suggested, rechecked Belarc and everything is A-Ok, now.

        Peace,

      PK,

I cannot find a version of KB4577586 in the Catalog that applies to Win 10 Version 1909 (X64).  Does that mean that Flash has already been removed from IE and Edge by some previous update?

Did you try the second page? Arrow top right “Previous/Next”

    • #2339918

No. Duh… I assumed that the list was in numerical order and once I got below 1903 I quit looking. I found it on the second page and ran it, apparently successfully.

Now on to the matter of Chrome and Firefox. I went to Adobe.com and found instructions for uninstalling Flash from Windows. I followed the instructions up to the point of deleting all files in the C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash folder. Found the folder ok, but when I selected the four files found there and tried to delete them, I got an error message “You require permission from TrustedInstaller to make changes to this file.” No idea what that is, where to find it or how to use it. Is all this grief really necessary?

Read all the posts starting here #2335931.

It may help you to take ownership of the folder in question.

        Cheers

Despite all the conflicting and confusing advice found at various places on the ‘Net, I somehow apparently blundered into a solution. Belarc is no longer reporting the two security issues for Flash. Thanks for the responses here.
