In nearly 30 years I never had a problem with Windows patches… until the Print Nightmare patch which gave me the dreaded Page Fault in Non Paged Area BSOD. Problem solved with a system restore to just before the patch.

      Hello Susan,

I just read your latest post on ComputerWorld for version 21H1.

If we do that, won’t it also grab all the latest patches including this OOB item, or as well the July Updates that we are still on DEFCON 2 for?  And we won’t have any control over install.

I’d prefer to wait for your DEFCON update for both.

If you use the “ISO” method you won’t.  The July updates aren’t in there yet.

I read that Susan recommends update to 21H1 now in the 7/12/2021 newsletter.

       “Recommendations for all users

             I’m now recommending either Windows 10 20H2 or Windows 10 21H1.”

Windows Update has stopped offering 21H1.  It was offered back in March or April and I waited.  Then it disappeared and never returned.

I did not block it in wushowhide.  I did not make any registry changes to prevent it.  I did not do anything to make it go away.

I thought it might reappear this month because Microsoft Update Health Tools reappeared on 6/24/2021 when I installed KB5003537 for Print Spooler security update.

But I have installed July Update (KB5004237) today and I have Servicing Stack 10.0.19041.1081 which was installed 7/7/2021 automatically by Windows Update.

By the way all seems to be working fine after July Cumulative Update.

Windows Update says I am up to date, but no 21H1 feature update is offered.

Any ideas where it went and what to do to get it back?

You didn’t set TRV to 20H2 (Susan’s script ) to hold it on that version, did you?

          PKCano,

No.  I don’t mess with registry at all and never tried that and wouldn’t.  Also did not block in wushowhide.  Did nothing but leave it sit there and it went away and never came back.

I did at one point back then remove Microsoft Update Health Tools but it came back when I installed June updates on 6/24/2021.  I made a mistake.  In original post I thought that was when I installed the security update for Print Spooler.

The Print Spooler patch slipped on to my computer when I turned it back on after a thunder/lightning  storm 7/7/2021 which is when the Servicing Stack also installed.

          I am attaching my Updates.

          Thanks for your help.

Still no 21H1 from Windows Update.  Always says I am up to date.  Tried removing Microsoft Health Tools thinking it would install again and maybe open door for 21H1 but no.  Guess I will have to wait until next month for it to come back.

        Nothing to do but wait.

Got it.  Thank you.  Only scary part was the thunder storm that came up in the middle of installation.  But it got done and I didn’t lose power and all seems to be OK.
