Because MS officially no longer supports Office 2000, the WSUS service no longer offers to check for Office 2000 updates. So this PowerPoint update is a manual one for me.
I am sure that I am not the only organisation that still uses 2000 and needs to update many machines. I am looking at manually patching about 100 machines. (I guess I’m lucky that I get paid by the hour!)

GuestMay 15, 2009 at 6:36 am #59737Hi again,
As an update I have just been to the Office update site to find the file that I need. I went to
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/downloads/CD010225951033.aspxand the most recent update is October 08 (or June 08 if using US dates)

AskWoody_MVPMay 15, 2009 at 11:07 pm #59739WRONG, Johanna. Microsoft has NOT yet abandoned support for Office 2000. At least not until mid-July 2009.
Read this MS Office Support Lifecycle page:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?pr=lifeOffice“Office 2000 – Microsoft will continue to offer mainstream support for Office 2000 through June 30, 2004. The Office 2000 extended support period will last from July 1, 2004 through July 14, 2009. The latest Office 2000 service pack is required for hotfix support.”

I generally suggest that people install the Junk Email filter updates, even if they don’t use a Microsoft mail program, because once in a blue moon you may hit a situation where Windows might use the definition file.
