Microsoft has released its first-Tuesday set of non-security Office patches. Several of you have written to me, to ask if you should install them. Sho

Patch reliability is unclear, but widespread attacks make patching prudent. Go ahead and patch, but watch out for potential problems. |

ManagerApril 7, 2016 at 2:45 pm #44947Any idea if the problem is KB3114996? See symptoms in the comments at http://www.infoworld.com/article/3052307/microsoft-windows/heres-the-rundown-on-microsofts-latest-non-security-office-patches.html
UPDATE: As noted by Ed, patch 3114996 is for Office 2010, and you said you’re running Office 2013. That being the case, I wonder if your problem might be with KB3114941, which is Office 2013 specific?

AskWoody_MVPApril 7, 2016 at 4:05 pm #44950John, I have all recent patches installed on few computers with Office 2013. Could you please let us know what is actually failing to test if it happens to me and try to identify if it is patch related.
It would be useful to mention if your Outlook 2013 connects to POP or IMAP or an Exchange server or else. -

GuestApril 9, 2016 at 7:17 am #44955I have to back up several other’s statements concerning KB3139852. Since I installed this one my wait times to produce results during Windows update have dropped drastically. I installed this one solo for testing purposes so I’m sure this is the one that helped.
The GWX Control Panel still showed “you appear to be safe” after installing it by the way.

Black Tuesday is approaching. Have any of your readers commented on, or been offered
KB3140741 for 10?It is a servicing stack update for Windows 10 version 1511. I mentioned earlier in March the problems my daughter and others were having with it. You indicated she should hold off installing it and perhaps MS would tweak it. Have you any news on this?
Should she try it again, or wait another week for Black Tuesday to hit us?
Your input is greatly appreciated!

I know you’re an unbelievably busy person and I can’t fathom handling as much as you keep on your plate constantly but the DEFCON thing should happen pretty soon as there’s only a few days left until the next Black Tuesday.
Stockpiling these updates for multiple months tends to bring you even more work explaining which ones are safe and which ones aren’t.
