Fasten your seatbelts: Artificial intelligence is expected to come to Apple’s Siri next week. The Worldwide Developers Conference for Apple takes place early next week, and iOS 18 is expected to include enhancements. There is a rumored business partnership with Chat GPT and Apple. We’ll have more details once the actual release is out. I’ll be on the lookout to see whether I’ll need to update my iPhone 14 Pro Max or can continue to use it for my daily needs. It will also be a good time for you to review your tablet needs and decide whether Apple can entice you to update.
iOS 18 will be released September 2024 (dev version may be released next week).
Your iPhone 14 Pro Max won’t support AI ChatGPT. You need iPhone 15 Pro Max…
It seems most of the new Windows 11 features will require logging in with a Microsoft Account. This makes sense for email and cross-device features. But for anything affecting the Desktop Experience or settings, I log in with a local account. I see no point in making backup or settings there dependent on a Cloud Account. My temporary data backups are to a local drive, then later to my archival backup drives. Microsoft seems only to want a Microsoft Account login for “telemetry” purposes and to serve up ads.

Is there any evidence that logging in with a Microsoft account increases telemetry or ads?

Well it has happened again. This morning one of my W10 Pro 22H2 computers suddenly had windows opening / closing VERY quickly in the background. Being suspicious I checked my Update info. Alas it had been changed from Resume Updates 7/3/2024 to 6/13/2024. And there is no functioning option to change that – grayed out. Malwarebytes has not flagged any problems. Did an offline Defender scan just in case. My other W10 Pro 22H2 computer remains at 7/3/2024. I updated both of these computers on the same day at the end of May and set the 7/3 date on both at the same time. This is VERY heavy handed. 6/13 is way to soon to force updates on me. Thoughts??
Running Windows 10 Pro 22H2, with windows “quality” updates deferred 21 days in group policy: I got the May 2024 patches today (June 8). It seems to have broken the ability for a program to communicate with my own computer at 127.0.0.1 . The program is KoLMafia, a tool that works with kingdomofloathing.com and has a feature to set up a “relay browser” using 127.0.0.1:60080-60090. But now it says “Failed to find free port in range 60080 to 60090. But netstat -ab does not show these ports as being used. Turning off the Windows Firewall and other protections (temporarily) did not help. The program suggests setting a preference to use a different port, but that did not help. It always says the port is already in use, contrary to what netstat says.
I’m on Windows 10 Pro, Version 22H2. I followed the instructions to link my phone & enable the capture of photos from my phone, but it Doesn’t uses the system Snipping Tool. It uses the Snip and Sketch app; had to change some settings to view pics. Also, it sends notifications that have to be clicked on & open the pic in the app. FINALLY, it sends the pic in Landscape format & I’m holding the phone in Portrait! Can’t Rotate, so I have to hold the phone in Landscape to take the pic in Portrait format. Any Win 10 22H2 users that have tried this have suggestions or tips?
Bought a refurbished Windows 10 64-bit, currently updated to 22H2. Have broke the AC adapter cord going to the 8.1 machine, but before that, coaxed it into charging. Need to buy new adapter if wish to continue using it.
