Helpful article. Would have helped if where it says you should have a full image of your OS, it also gave a link to recommended software for making the full image.

MS is certainly eager to get early adopters on board. Even to the extent of offering a free upgrade to Win7 users. But I’m not certain that people still on Win7 are going to be quick take this offer. I know I won’t.

I’ve got too much history with Version 1.0 releases turning out to be closer to Version 0.9a to chance updating my older Win7 equipment. Perhaps around July 2016, it will be time to buy a new computer with Win10. We’ll see.

In the mean time, I don’t suppose MS might consider a Version 7.2 Pro for us Luddites?

You note that you can get the icon out of your system tray by changing its notification status. Well each day it shows up and each day I change it to “Only Show Notifications.” And each morning it’s in my system tray again….and I do that again….

Same here.

Anyone found a way to permanently remove it.

I’ve also tried to relocate it in the hidden pop-up notification area, but it keeps returning to the ‘pole position’!

Is there any way to determine if the “upgrade” to Win10 will work on an installed Win7 Pro system? I have been using Pro for a while now and like it well enough that I don’t want to have Win10 mess up my system. I have a history of not going along with MSFT when I don’t think they are going in a good direction! I did not install Win9x on any of my systems but chose to go from Win3.1 directly to WinNT 3.51 and have been using a full 32 bit system ever since. (Until I was able to go to 64 bit.) Anyone else running a Pro version of Win7?

Yes, on a couple of Notebooks [actually 4] and Win7 Ultimate on a Custom Desktop, all 64-bit.

There is.

Open Task Scheduler, navigate to Microsoft > Windows > Setup > gwx and disable the two tasks in that folder.

Thanks. Done, will have to see if it works at next reboot.
