    I frequently trade stocks and recently bought some of a company that is developing MRAM . Won’t say which company I bought, but from what I understand most technical problems are beginning to be worked out and it might be available as early as 2005. Google on it and it provides quite a read (all except the Mineral Resources of Mongolia hit!) The idea and implications are fairly amazing.

      I think I went to a presentation by IBM about this about ten years ago, when they were talking about using this effect for disk drives…

        True, has been in the works since at least 1995 with DARPA and IBM, maybe earlier,
        here is a better interpretation of the concept.
