I would like recommendations on what you consider the best, and most user friendly (ease of use), software to split/make tracks in large MP3 audio files (This will be used to make tracks in MP3 Operas). Prefer free software, but will consider paid. The feature in this software that I plan on using, almost exclusively, is the SILENT DETECTION to pinpoint placement of the tracks. I have tried Audacity but I have had problems and it has not worked well for me. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

I have used MP3DirectCut quite successfully using the ‘Pause detection’ mode to split tracks.

I have had good results with LPRecorder and LPRipper – http://www.cfbsoftware.com/
