• Moving Shares between domains

We have two domains, one is running NT4, the other Windows2000.
We plan to replace NT4 on the BDC of the NT4 domain with Windows 2000 and add the server to the Windows 2000 domain as a DC.
The NT4 BDC has a large number of folders with a fairly complicated set of permissions. The shares are documented, so could be recreated manually, but what we would like to do is move some of them to a DC in the Windows2000 domain before installing the new OS on the BDC.
The folders have permissions for users in the Windows 2000 domain
We prefer to install Windows 2000 as a new install, rather than an in-place upgrade of NT4 after problems in upgrading another NT4 box.
Is there a way of moving folders between domains with their permissions intact ?

      David:

If you have a recent backup you can restore it in the server that you want, restoring also the shares and the file permissions that had the folders.
We recently did the same thing in my company.

Thank you, that is a very straightforward solution.
We back-up every night, and would never think of doing an upgrade without a successful backup.
