    WIN 98SE, PIII 450mhz, 384mb

I have added a second hardrive to my system and have moved most of my data files to it, but have not yet moved My Documents.

I know this is not a “standard” folder. Anything to watch out for, or that I need to do to move it sucessfully? Will I need to change it’s location manually with some/all of the programs that access it in open, save, etc dialogs, or will windows take care of this housekeeping?

    Thanks for any help, Dave

The My Documents folder will automatically open to wherever you have specified that it is located. What you will need to do is to copy whatever is in there now to the new location so it’s available. After you change its location, clicking on “My Documents” from file/open dialogs and in Windows itself will take you to the place you’ve specified.

I wouldn’t install programs there, since the location can change and thus break the registry settings for them, but programs will be able to find My Documents without a problem. Other than the name, it’s a nice thing to have!

If I remember correctly, simply “Cutting” and “Pasting” the C:My Documents folder to a new location, will move the associated link along with the files. No fuss.. no muss!
