We’re in the process of changing to a more secure, more resilient, and much faster server. Yeah, I know, you’ve heard that before. With our growth rat

I know, sorry about that!  I brought the denial of service attacks with me.

Mr Natural beat me to it, LOL. I think you gained a whole lot of WindowsSecrets traffic.

Thanks for trying to keep up with traffic Woody and thanks for the informative/helpful site.

Growth is a wonderful thing, but keeping up with it is where all the grey hairs come from! 🙂

No offense, but a site of this size should work well, and be able to handle 2.000+ requests per second, with 4 CPU cores and 4 GB RAM (on Linux)/8 GB RAM (on Windows). If it doesn’t, it’s the Web hosting provider… Most Web hosting providers just oversell VPS nodes and do not go after abusers… The result is poor disk I/O, CPU utilization, and bandwidth. Even a cheap dedicated server with desktop CPU would perform better…

        I appreciate the analysis.

I’ve been very disappointed with our hosts. Let’s see if the next one does better.

I would test drive PeoplesHost… While none of their plans offers more than 100 Mbit/sec (should be more than enough if you don’t run a file sharing/video hosting business), they don’t oversell and go after abusers immediately (read their APU and you know what I’m talking about). So far, I haven’t heard any complains from folks I told to move to that host.

Just wanted to check in and see when the changeover is scheduled?

I am eagerly anticipating the new hosting!

      Cheers!!

      Woody,

My limited experience with HostGator has been good.  You may want to consider them.

Thanks for providing a good replacement for WindowsSecrets.
