We’ve recently moved house (I described this in a previous post) and I set my computer up identically to the previous place.  No changes that I can imagine of substance.  It’s just a computer (ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. TUF GAMING X570-PLUS (WI-FI) with  video card (4080MB ATI AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT (MSI)).  This is the Win 10 v 22H2 forum so that’s the operating system.

Now whenever I reboot the computer, or wake it up after having gone to sleep (wrong term:  the system is on “High performance” power profile with ‘put the computer to sleep’=Never and ‘turn off the display: = 30 minutes there is a problem.

One display (I suppose the master) is or comes on.  The second display is off and can be reactivated only by pushing the power button.

I wondered if I had done something to the display’s so I switched the monitors but this made no difference so must be – I suppose – something in the PC settings.  Both LG monitor’s internal power settings are ‘low’ and ‘automatic stand by’ is off.

What have I done?  What is happening?

    I appreciate the advice!

Which models of the LG monitors?

      • #2662201

They are called LG IPS FullHD LED (24MP58VQ-PF) nominally identical though I didn’t buy them at the same time so they may have some subtle differences.

Let’s take a look at your Power Plan settings.

Open a Command prompt, copy and paste the following, and press Enter…

      powercfg /GetActiveScheme

You’ll get output similar to this…

Power Scheme GUID: 816b0a68-0f7c-438b-90bf-1bf6782a0739 (My Custom Plan)

Note: Your GUID will be different.

Then, run this command, which includes the GUID we got from the last command (replacing this one with your GUID)…

      powercfg /query 816b0a68-0f7c-438b-90bf-1bf6782a0739

      Copy the output and post.

Allow hybrid sleep) GUID Alias: HYBRIDSLEEP

It’s possible there is a conflict with Windows Hybrid Sleep Mode (which is turned on), and the Sleep Mode feature on the LG monitor.

You might check if  the LG monitor has it turned on.

    • #2664574

      Still working on this.

I thought I had turned Hybrid Sleep Mode off but I see this:

Power Setting GUID: 94ac6d29-73ce-41a6-809f-6363ba21b47e (Allow hybrid sleep)
      GUID Alias: HYBRIDSLEEP

      Possible Setting Friendly Name: On
Current AC Power Setting Index: 0x00000000
Current DC Power Setting Index: 0x00000001

What does the “Poossible Setting Index:001” being ‘on’ imply?  In my advanced power settings I have tried to turn every power saving setting off…

The LG monitors have all the power saving settings off too as far as I can determine…

      Thanks

    • #2664657

Looks like Hybrid Sleep is “on” for Battery.

      • #2664704

There is no battery on this desktop so that shouldn’t matter (if there is any logic to Windows….)

I have updated the LG drivers and etc.  I was trying to find references to monitor firmware but that doesn’t seem to exist insofar as I can determine.

Oh well.  I’ll suffer.  I imagine that one day, just as suddenly as the problem appeared, it will disappear and the behavour will return to baseline.  As goes the world.

        Thanks for looking at this.

        Richard

Yeah, I didn’t roll up to your first post 6 days ago where you specified what kind of system you had.

It was simply an observation of the setting.

If you haven’t tried this yet…

Settings > System > Display > Multiple displays (right side of the screen).

          Click on Detect.

You might also check the LG site for current drivers…

      https://www.lg.com/us/support/software-firmware-drivers

Under the “Popular Software” section > “Windows Monitor Drivers”, there are drivers available for “IPS Full HD – 1080p Windows” monitors.

Other than that, I would contact LG Support.
