.mov in PPS (PP 2002)

Hi, this is my first time on the forum and I’m desperate for help! I have a 10-slide presentation — on the 10th slide there is a 26 mb movie (Quicktime). I can FINALLY get it to run in the Power Point show, but only after I get a window that says,

“Opening D:Geri Rap Video.mov

Some files can contain viruses or otherwise be harmful to your computer. You should be certain that this file is from a trustworthy source.

Would you like to open this file? Yes No.”

When I click yes, Quick Player will open, but it’s in the upper right hand corner (as it is when I change the player to WMP), so I have to manually center it and hit the “go” button. I believe the is CODEC Cinepak. Can anyone help me here??? I’m getting realllllllllllly frustrated with a program I love!

I had the same problem, here’s what I did.

Insert the movie on the slide, by going to Insert, Movies and Sounds, Movie from File… . Click Yes, if you want it to play automatically. You will get a black box on your screen, that you can resize to fill the screen, do this by going to Format, Picture then go to the Size tab. Make sure that the “Lock Aspect Ratio” button is clicked and then change one of the dimension, the other will change automatically, I find that 7.5″ for the height works well on my system to fill up the screen. Center your new black box on the screen and you should be good to go.

I did not get the message about the viruses, so that may still be a problem for you. Also, just as a side note, the video does not embed in the file, it only links to it and from what I have been able to discover, that’s all you can do, so if you are planning on making copies, you might want to experiment before sending any out.

Don’s option to use Insert/Movie/From File will work, but you’d have to convert the file from Quicktime MOV format to something else (AVI, MPEG) that PPT can play. PPT and QT don’t really get along well together. I suspect you know this, which is probably why you’ve chosen to call the QT player as you have.

Unfortunately, I don’t have an answer to why the video players won’t open full-screen or centered or whatever.
