Alex, thanks for the information but where did you get the information that Monterey 12.6.5 can be downloaded from support.apple.com/downloads?. I just checked that site and unless it’s buried somewhere, it’s just not there. I’ve run into this before, where an update comes out but none of the current updates show up.
It looks as though the latest updates on the site are from late 2022.

The easiest way to get the update is through Software Updater (assuming, of course, that Software Updater is working).

          • #2551125

Monterey 12.6.5 is showing up on both my iMac4K and my M1 MacMini in the Settings\Software Update. Both show Ventura at the top, but Monterey updates show up under “Other updates are available” – More Info link.

Yes, my iMAC and MBA are showing what you’re seeing. I’m just curious about the apple/downloads site because a few months ago when Software Update on my iMAC became completely worthless a lot of websites just said to go to the downloads page and get whatever you need. I wish it was that easy, but it’s not. I finally found a site from which I could download the update and then install it, but it seems that apple doesn’t have anything like the MS Catalog. But at least the update returned Software Update to working order.

OK, one IMac4k Kaby Lake i7 -> Monterey 12.6.5 and one 15″ MacBook Pro Haswell i7 -> Big Sur 11.7.6 up and running.

M1 MacMini on Monterey to go….

Update: the M1 MacMini had no problems either. Posting now from it with Monterey 12.6.5 installed.

The source is Apple’s update notification email.

I have a 2017 IMAC that is updated to the latest Monterey update.  How long will I be able to receive Monterey updates?   I plan on getting a new IMAC in a year or two so how long will I be able to keep Monterey updated?  Or should I update to Ventura?

      • #2589861

I believe Monterey will continue to get updates for another year, until the version after Sonoma is released. So maybe this time next year.

Old Macs can still get macOS Sonoma with a tool available in October

The OpenCore Legacy Patcher won’t be offering day-one support for macOS Sonoma on older Macs, with support now expected to arrive on October 2…

OpenCore Legacy Patcher is a bootloader that enables newer macOS releases to work on older Mac models that are not supported by the operating system. It allows unsupported Macs to enjoy the benefits and features of newer macOS releases, by injecting and patching data in memory instead of disk for a near-native user experience…

Thanks PKCano.  So if I want to keep my IMAC after next year I could then update to Ventura?

    • #2589996

Yes I am eligible to install Ventura.  I have the 2017 21.5 inch.  Do you recommend installing Ventura now?  I guess all the bugs are out of it now!!!!

      • #2589999

I have installed Ventura on: 2017 iMac4K (intel i7), 2020 M1 MacMini. and 2023 16″ M2Max MacBook Pro (up from Monterey on the two older). All are running at least one Parallel VM on Win8.1, Win10 or Win11.
I had no problem with the updates and I use all three daily.

If I were you, I would go ahead and upgrade Monterey to Ventura.
