I have an HP 6333 with a Lucent Win Modem. I recently upgraded the software for the modem and it messed something up because I couldn’t get the modem to work anymore. It keeps trying to load on Comm 1.
I borrowed my friends Creative Labs Hardware modem and it installed on com1 then the wizard popped up and loaded it again, this time on com2. The modem on com1 does not respond to diags but the one on com2 does.
Now, everytime I boot, windows detects new hardware and tries to install a wave device. I click cancel and go on my merry way. Modem seems to work only in com2.
Any clues as to what might be messed up and how to correct it?
