Missing Help Topics (Access 2002)

I’ve got a problem that I tried to solve previously, but couldn’t.

Basically, all my help topics in VBA help that have a suffix eg (ADO) are not available. For an example, the DeleteRecord Method (ADO) appears in the VBA help search pane on the left of the screen, (it is not greyed out), but when I select it, there is no topic to go with it.

As far as I can tell, this applies to all topics with a suffix a couple more examples are

openRecordset (DAO)

ValidationText Property (DAO)

Source Property (ADO Error)

I’ve done a Detect & Repair, I’ve done a re-install, but no use.

Can anyone tell me what file these help topics should be in, and I can then check whether I have that file.

Any other suggestions welcome.

Unfortunately, as you will read in other threads, help is virtually non-existant in AccessXP/2002. If you do a search in the answer wizard on DAO you will get a set of topics, but none of them work. BTW, the help is different in VBA than from Access, but neither does any good. There is a supposed update to the help files for Access 2002, but I can’t seem to find it this morning. Another thing you might try is installing SP1 for office, though the readme file with it suggest that there isn’t any substantial difference. However that same readme file indicates that there is a readme.txt for DAO that gets installed as part of the SP. I haven’t installed it yet, but I wouldn’t put too much faith in it making things better. Sorry to be so pessimistic.

I did do a single search in this archive before posting, but it returned no matches, so I didn’t even think about trying alternatives.

The answer, however disappointing is very useful, as it at least clarifies that I’m not going mad, as when I triedpreviously, I got no responses that I hadn’t already tried.

I checked, and in fact I’m running SP-1, but cannot find any read-me files to check.

I’ll keep an eye open for SP2 though in case.
