Missing Email Boxes

A friend was deleting emails from his sent items and other boxes when he suddenly noticed that two boxes were missing. One was entitled PENDING MATTERS and included emails about upcoming trips. He can not find the missing box. I talked him through doing a search for all dbx files and the missing box did not show up. It is not listed under any of the other boxes. Any suggestions as to how we could find and restore this missing box. Thanks for your help.

No suck luck, he does not do backups.

I think he it out of luck.

If he insists that he is not the culprit it could be OE. It is rather notorious for data issues. He might consider upgrading to Mail – Windows Live.

Did your friend un-hide the protected System files before they did the search ??

The .dbx files should be in…..
C:Documents and SettingsUser’s NameLocal SettingsApplication DataIdentities{7DF0B216-7880-4632-B8F0-FFE4684A8942}MicrosoftOutlook Express

Yes he did un-hide the protected System files – he was able to find all of the other DBX files – just could not find the ones that went missing.
