    Hi y’all,

    Happy Friday! bananas

Has anyone experience with Word’s “Manual” found in Templates “on my computer” the Publications tab?
See the attached my example with the mostly Microsoft provided content.

I’ve a client who has edited a new document created from the “Manual” template and now needs to print it with mirror margins. We chose File | Page Setup | Margins tab, and in the sub-section “Pages” selected the drop-down choice “Mirror margins,” and selected Apply to “Whole document.”

When we print the document with mirror margins Word inserts an EXTRA BLANK page with no headers or footers! This extra page is displayed in Print Preview, but is invisible in Print Layout and Normal views.

Remove the mirror margins and the “stealth” extra page is eliminated.

A document created using the normal.dot template and formatted from scratch (and not as complex as manual.dot) doesn’t exhibit this behavior when set to mirror margins.

Anyone have an idea what’s going on and how I can prevent the printing of these “stealth” and unwanted blank pages????

    Thanks and Cheers,
    Rich

When you turn on “Mirror margins”, Word assumes that you’ll use duplex (two-sided) printing.

The sections containing the Table of Contents and Chapter 1 both specify that page numbering should restart at 1 (or the equivalent i) instead of continuing from the previous section. Word will not print an odd-numbered page on a “left-hand” page, it inserts a blank page to force the odd-numbered page onto a “right-hand” page. This is normal printing practice. If you would allow page numbers to continue from section to section, the blank pages would disappear, but Chapter 1 would begin on a left-hand page, which is typographically “odd” (pun intended).

        Hi Hans,

You are a genius, and I thank you for your insight! This was right on and very, very helpful.
