Just getting ready to put a larger hard drive in my laptop (moving from 60gig-7200rpm to 100gig-7200rpm) and prior to creating an image I am trying to eliminate unneeded and leftover registry entries. I am having a problem locating the key to delete and rid myself of an entry left by MusicMatch almost two years ago. Anyone have any ideas? See screenshot below.

      sinjin,

You could go into regedit and do a search for the the name MusicMatch and delete any references to it.

I’m assuming that it doesn’t show up in the AddRemove utiltiy?

Thanks for the thought but I did that twice, once with jv16 powertools and once with regedit manually. Apparently there is a key with who knows what as a label and that scribble for an entry. The uninstaller and or Windows must have burped when the uninstall was in progress.

I think that you can edit this list with TweakUI, you can find it in the left hand pane as My Computer > AutoPlay > Handlers

That was one of my first thoughts, but unfortunately, TweakUI XP will only let you delete handlers that you have created in TweakUI. Other handlers are visible but grayed out. sad

Since my last suggestion didn’t help…

Try looking at the Registry key
      HKCUSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerAutoplayHandlers

You need to drill down through quite a few pointers to tie it all together.

Sorry for the delay in my reply but life was getting in the way. I did look through every entry and nothing looked funny except for the no values in several “REG SZ” entries. I am going to (eventually) compare the entries with another similar installation when I get an opportunity. My guess is that the entries with the missing values are the issue. Thanks for your suggestions.
