Update KB5034765 fails on my Windows 11 (23H2) Home edition with error 0x800F0922. A quick search reveals this could be anything. It starts installing, then  reboots and the installation continues. Then at about 93% it reports there’s a problem and rolls back the installation. Tried it a couple of times, but nope.

The usual recommended solutions like SFC, DISM, Troubleshooter, reset Windows Update etc. don’t do the trick. I put it on halt and wait to see what happens next month.

Your link to the web page to block the CoPilot icon from the taskbar leads to a page that does not exist.

not about co-pilot,  but the article mentions “office 2016, 2019 (not the click-to-run versions)”

I have Office 2016,  I didn’t move to Office 2019 because it seemed to only be available as click-to-run,  which I didn’t want to install.  I didn’t need click-to-run software running all the time, and having Office 2019 updating whenever it wanted.

Is there a version of Office 2019, installed, that isn’t click-to-run?  or, is it possible to stop the click-to-run part from running after install?  I realize that of19 is already out of date.

With Office 2016 click-to-run, you can disable automatic Office updates, make Office updates run on demand, decide which release schedule to be on, and/or rollback to a specific version.

We disable Office 2016 click-to-run updates and only turn them on, when we are ready to process any fallout, typically monthly. Since we prefer maximum stability, we are on the Semi-Annual Enterprise release schedule.

ok.   I was asking about Office 2019.   or while on the topic, also Office 2021?

run Office 2019/21 without ctr also running?  my experience with 2019 was that if ctr was not running office didn’t open.

and, keep them from auto updating.

Hi, Susan, the link to block the Copilot icon in the system tray leads to a page that does not exist as one other person observed. But you did not reply with the correct link yet.

Thanks – I would like to proactively block it from messing up my tray as I an not inclined to CoPilot for the immediate future.   Sincerely, Jane Aldrich (=KatieJane)

Will you see the Copilot icon on your computer? Yes. Well, maybe. Uh, I don’t know. Just keep these AskWoody Knowledge Base links for Consumer and Professional versions handy. They provide guidance on controlling the presence of Copilot on your taskbar.

        These links work for me?

Copilot nag magically appeared today on my local account homebuilt Asus Core i9-11900K; Win10 Pro, 22H2, Build 19045.4046 Feature Pack 1000.19053.1000.0. February updates done Friday last after Feb 26, 2024, update to the Master Patch List. KB5034441 was excluded. I normally shun all of Microsoft’s extras; I want an operating system not a corporate funnel into my “Life Space”. Thank you for all that you do, it has made life infinitely more manageable.
