Free Upgrade to Windows 11 (For a Limited Time Only)

Well, it is official. Window 10 is being retired after October 14th,2025 and will no longer be supported. What does this mean? Your computer will still work. However, with security threats on the rise, it is imperative you upgrade, immediately. The great news is that you still have time to make the jump…

If you still want to hold on to Windows 10 you will have to enroll to the Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU) Program which is a paid program…

Microsoft 365 Apps will no longer be supported after October 14, 2025, on Windows 10 devices…

* No free upgrades from Windows 10 to Windows 11 after October 14th,2025 ?

Read the article. The only place anything about “free” is mentioned is in the title. There is a link at the bottom of the article to End of support for Windows 10, Windows 8.1, and Windows 7 | Microsoft Windows. That article says the upgrade is free. It says nothing about a time limit.

Obviously Microsoft is attempting to scare users into thinking them have to upgrade to Windows 11 immediately or they’ll lose out on the chance to do it for free! 👎

And also, if you try to go back to Windows 7 or 8 after wiping it out with a Windows 11 install you may find that you can no longer re-activate your original Windows 7 or 8 install. Microsoft shut down those activation servers two falls ago. At least that was my experience when I cloned a Windows 7 HDD to replace it with a new one using the original legitimate Windows key.

On the same device and hardware:
Having an EoS image of the Windows 7 helps to achieve an OS rollback after nuking the storage drive.

If one had backed up the ‘activated token key’ on a previously installed Windows 7, it’s also possible to go back from Win8.1/ 10 or 11 by nuking the storage and reinstalling, then re-introduce the token key. Bingo!

There are still 3rd party packs out there to achieve the necessary subsequent updates to EoS or beyond.(although at the end-user risk..)

Hi b,

Thanks for posting that link, as i was wondering about Microsoft 365 on win 10 after the October date. So looks like it will still run but no updates for the product?

I did read somewhere on Microsoft support page that if you subscribe to Microsoft 365 the (ESU) program would be free for those users. We will have to wait and see about that claim.

Me thinks they should provide updates for 365 and win 10 if you are in the ESU program, but that wont happen.
