Find your Windows product key with ShowKeyPlus.
Your product key depends on the type of Windows version you bought:

    • If you bought Windows from an authorized retailer, the product key will only show as the Installed key. This applies to OEM System Builder keys as well.

    • If you upgraded Windows, the Original key will be the key installed prior to the upgrade. NB if you upgrade to Windows 10 for free, you’ll receive a unique Digital License instead of a product key. The key displayed will be an edition specific generic key in that case.

    • If you bought a new PC running Windows, the product key will be pre–installed on your PC and the key will be included in the firmware in the case of Windows 8 or 10 – or as an OEM marker, in the case of previous versions. The OEM key will display the key in the case of the former, or whether your PC was built for Windows Vista or Windows 7.

    • Apart from the key, the associated Edition of each key is displayed below it.

Really neat-sounding app, judging by the material presented on the MS Store’s browser page. I have yet to visit that page from within the MS Store app itself. BUT, I don’t see any listing for the permissions that the app can request once installed.

In the Android eco-system, one can look at the permissions requested by an app before deciding to install it. Also, there’s a statement saying that one can block certain permissions from the app once its’ installed, but that doing so may cause reduced functionality for the app.

It’s a neat app. It shows current status and prevous Windows installations. The latter is under Upgrades tab and was a bit confusing at first. It shows four upgrades for this Windows 10 Pro machine and each time I clicked on that tab it showed a different upgrade for 4 upgrades in total. They are not shown in chronological order though which seems a bit odd and was confusing until I circled through them a few times. The key remained the same throughout the upgrades shown. This is a Dell XPS 8930 desktop.

If this is a “Windows Desktop App,” and I think it is, then it has “permission to use all system resources. You can’t use the Privacy settings to control what capabilities these apps can use.”  [https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/app-permissions-aea98a7c-b61a-1930-6ed0-47f0ed2ee15c]

      I got to this by:

      1.  At the OP’s link for ShowKeyPlus, click on “Get in Store app”
      2. In the little window that appears, click on “Get”
      3.   In the little window that appears, click on “More details”
      4.   In the window that opens, scroll down to “Additional information”

      5. Read “This app can / Uses all system resources.” and the “Permissions info” link gets more details.

I’m a light Facebook/Messenger user on Android, and have denied all 7 Facebook and 9 Messenger permissions, and both  work (as well as they can without access to Contacts, camera, etc.).
