Well, I have tiny fraction of their salary, but still I wish them luck. This is not just Microsoft who has salaries, that, for mortal people like I am, looks like out of this world.
And so I wonder.. where I made this HUUUUGE mistake – not getting these ammounts of money. Some advice? Work harded maybe? 🙂

        Doriel,

Don’t let it keep you up at night. Just remember:

Be nice if we had something to compare it to. What does a Google or Apple person make doing similar jobs?

The Head hunters will have a field day with that info and maybe MS had better watch out if they are not substantially above the industry average for pay to make up for any discrepancies as that relates to other companies’ pay rates for similar job descriptions.

One thing that hasn’t been mentioned here is the benefits package.  Back in the 1990’s when my brother worked for MS, the benefits were super – even covering lawyer costs.  At that time my brother said MS was a wonderful place to work.  I have no idea what it’s like today.
